Celebrating the life of Nancy Schaefer

A Eulogy

While soft spoken, Nancy Schaefer stood strong in her beliefs of Pro life issues in advocating for family rights and women’s rights, fighting against abortion and many other issues. She stood up for those who were desolate and for those who felt they had no voice, Nancy was their voice!

I would like to take a moment and reflect on the life of Nancy Schaefer, a very dear friend. I met Nancy in 2006, Senator Nancy Schaefer, Senator for North Georgia of Toccoa regarded by many as a woman of strength and courage, faithful and self sacrificing, her purpose in life was serving the people of Georgia which she did well. Determined, someone who was not your avid leader.

I hold this to be true to this day, It is a part of our Declaration of Independence;
These words were spoken by Nancy in the State Senate Chamber at The Capitol of Georgia, on March 24, 2004. Thomas Jefferson wrote in the Declaration of Independence about the right to life. He said: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. According to the Declaration of Independence, the right to life is a Divine right.”

Teresa Marie Schindler “Terri” ; Terri was a legal struggle involving prolonged life support in the United States that lasted from 1990 to 2005. The issue was whether to carry out the decision of the husband of Teresa Marie “Terri” Schiavo to terminate life support for her. Terri was diagnosed by doctors as being in a persistent vegetative state. The highly publicized and prolonged series of legal challenges presented by her parents and by state and federal legislative intervention effected a seven-year delay before life support finally was terminated. This case was a concern for Nancy and it weighed heavy on her heart which she spoke wholeheartedly about this young lady. This case spurred highly visible activism from the pro-life movement and disability rights groups and something Nancy truly believed in was the right to life. As I stand and say; ladies and gentlemen, let us not mourn the death of Nancy Schaefer, but celebrate the Life of Nancy Schaefer

From 1 Thessalonians 4:13: But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as do the rest who have no hope. 14: For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus.…

Let us pray, Nancy we know that you are asleep waiting for the return of your family and your people. May the Lord keep us and make us strong until we meet again! Teach us Lord to not mourn Nancy’s death but to celebrate her life in remembering the things that she taught us.

    I respect and adore this lady whom I have never heard of before I met Paige!The world have too few of her caliber,and the world lost a valuable asset in Nancy for fighting for the rights of women and children alike!!But as Paige says,we will not mourn your passing but CELEBRATE you!!!!

    Thank-you Paige, we thank you for your tireless dedication to her memory. I am glad you are ensuring she will NEVER be forgotten. No, we cannot EVER forget Nancy, she stood up and brought the issue of the gov’t abusing our families and children to LIGHT! Thank-you very much Nancy Schaefer. RIP

    It’s Providential that Paige recollects another martyr in remembering Nancy, namely Terri Schindler. Terri was martyred, for the sake of everyone disabled and all families who plead for their forsaken, on March 31, 2005. Terri wasn’t so much on life support but had a feeding tube. We all need daily bread. Terri was starved to death.

    It’s precious and within God’s omniscience that Nancy and her husband Bruce would be martyred for suffering families on March 26, 2010.

    For some time I have had Terri’s Holy Card front and center on my desk, right next to earthly dates of Nancy’s significant life. Paige is remarkable for linking Nancy and Terri in Heaven as Sister Saints who pray for us this very moment.

      Is sad that Terri was starved to death. A living will is suppose to be protected document and they broke that trust.
